Keyword Research begins with your primary search engine you are targeting, you cannot satisfy all search engines at the same time on the same page, identify and target the market shares you are interested in. if it is Google the Googles Keyword Adword Research tool is the best place to start looking for your market and how you will reach them.

Identify keywords that have potential for your company to meet a need or compete, if your competition in those keywords are selling the exact same product for $10 and it cost you $10 to make the same product maybe you should find a different keyword that better describes your product, instead of “cheap” you should use “quality” or “best” to describe your product, remember most search engines are “relevancy search engines” if you do not have the words on your page they will not be considered, no matter how many times you place them in the metadata on the page. They cannot be images, and cannot be flash, they have to be readable words, this cannot be stressed enough.

Keyword Research can be time consuming and often times requires outside vision to be able to identify your niche market, Search engines do reward those who do the research and put in the time to create informative and content ready pages.
